You can see the winter scenery right before your eyes, smell the fragrance of lilacs and hear the echo of the prayer room.
Nicole Johänntgen - a virtuoso instrumentalist – uses an impressively opulent sound palette. Her saxophone sighs and screams, sings and whispers, wheeps and cries. Proficient musi-cians accompany her with congeniality. Stefan Johänntgen contributes earthbased hard bop piano fillings, funky sounds and gospel chords. Christian Konrad is on percussive slap bass riffs as brilliantly staged as on delicate guitar melodies. Elmar Federkeil plays a wide range of rhythms – from straight swing to groove and latin rhythms to rock pointed accents. NICOLE JO crosses boundaries between genres. Folkloric excursions to jagged Balkan melismas, gospel ballads, groove, swing and energetic outbreaks into explosive free jazz spheres. Their music floats, flirts with techno-futuristic sounds, evokes the spirit of the old blues and uses the modern sound language of the contemporary neo-bop.
